My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Misty and I am a 2 year old German Shepherd mix and I weigh about 70 pounds.

I was impounded at Southern California shelter with a pretty horrific leg injury in April. The shelter was unable to treat my injury and immediately asked JDHF if they could help. JDHF took me to a fantastic vet and after weeks of painstaking care and orthopedic surgery, they were able to save my leg. I am still recuperating from my surgery and I am really glad that the cast is off so I can be a puppy again. Although I am healing well, I’m still in the “physical therapy” stage of my recovery. My foster mom doesn't let me run or play too much with my foster sister right now but I really want to because it makes me very happy!! My foster mom calls me a "wiggle-butt" because I am so happy.

These last few weeks, I have been smiling a lot because I am getting stronger and able to explore the backyard or lay around the house with my foster sister. We chew on bones and lick each other's faces.

I behave well around big dogs, but have not seen any little dogs or cats yet in the neighborhood. If I see a squirrel or lizard, I always like to introduce myself :-)

When my leg gets stronger, I will be able to jump really high. Right now, I like to rub against humans and crawl between their legs to feel safe and let them know that I love them. My favorite time to sit outside is at night.

I really like to go on adventures in the car and am a very good girl in the back seat or riding shotgun! I am crate and house trained and will make a great pooch partner in your active home! I am up to date on all my vaccinations. I am also microchipped and I will be spayed prior to adoption. I am available for adoption in the greater Los Angeles area.

Hope to meet you soon!

Love, Misty
