My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Dustin. I am a 6 mon old, 20lb, Pointer mix.

My foster mom has large and small dogs and lots of grandchildren who I really enjoy. No cat experience yet but I have seen a couple over the fence and they look friendly.

I run and play in a fenced yard and come when called by my name. Car rides and walks on a leash are fun too. During the day I stay in my crate and have only had little accidents after 9+ hours. Shorter days I do just fine.

When my foster mom is home I like to see what she is doing or play with the other dogs and toys. I am super smart and quickly learn our routine, eat, drink, out to potty. At night there is a crate in the bedroom but the bed is more comfy snuggling with my foster family.

My foster mom thinks I am a very patient, fun loving pup and would make a wonderful addition to any family. How about yours?

Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.

Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
