My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Tarzan - he is a handsome hound mix looking for his true forever home. Tarzan is a long & leggy guy who is around 65 pounds. He is a sweet boy who loves to give his foster human a hug & enjoys cuddling. He is house-trained, neutered & up to date on all vet care. Tarzan has some anxiety & needs time to warm up to strangers, especially men. Patience, love & commitment will be the key for Tarzan - & a bit of medication (he takes daily meds & does better on it than off). Tarzan generally likes other dogs but has shown some territorial issues lately so being the only dog in the home might be ideal. It seems he plays well outside of the home or on neutral turf more so than inside the home.
Tarzan needs a furever person who is patient & will be dedicated to him for all of his life - dedicated to his somewhat anxious nature, dedicated to seeking training & to whatever his care entails. He has been at his foster home a while now so any change will be an adjustment. Potential adopters should be prepared for that & ready to give him time.
As his foster mom, I envision his ideal home as one with someone who is fairly settled in life - maybe a single lady (he loves the ladies) who isn't necessarily a homebody, but isn't someone who is gone all the time or entertaining a lot of new people frequently. He is doing great in his crate now when I have to leave him & we are working on bits of time uncrated. A couch & bed that will fit both you & Tarzan is a requirement lol (fair warning - he is a bed hog). A fenced yard would be great but not a necessity - he isn't ultra-energetic but likes the safety of a yard. He attempts a game of fetch as well but is still working on giving the ball back so I can throw it again. He walks really well on a leash or harness & has gotten pretty comfortable riding in the car. He has completed some training & his general manners are pretty good. Cats are a no for him. He really is such a loving boy who enjoys snuggles & belly rubs. He deserves the best life in a furever home. Could YOU be his pawfect match?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

♥ The first step is to fill out our adoption application on our website at www.pawfectmatch.org under Adoption Information. ♥ Once we receive your application, the second step will be for our volunteers to check your vet reference and talk with your personal references. ♥ The third step, if your application is approved, is for our volunteers to contact you about scheduling a home check. This is not to see what kind of house you live in or how clean or dirty it is. It is simply to see if the yard size, fencing, etc is compatible with your dog of interest. It also allows other animals in your household as well as children to meet your potential new dog to see if everyone will get along and to make sure this is truly a "pawfect" match! ♥ After all three of these steps are completed, the final step is to sign the adoption contract and make the adoption donation fee of $300.00. This may seem high, but it is actually a bargain! Your new pet will be up to date on the necessary vaccinations required by the age of the dog at time of adoption, spayed or neutered, on heartworm preventative and flea and tick meds, micro-chipped, groomed, and well on his or her way with basic obedience and house training. All of our dogs will be adopted out with a collar and leash, and a PMR tag. ♥ NOTE - If you have "spam protection" turned on for your email account, please set a white filter to allow emails from pawfectmatch@gmail.com to pass. We will NOT respond to spam protection response emails.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer rescue organization devoted to saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills, abusive situations and abondonment in North Carolina. Our members foster, transport and help the rescue efforts with their individual skills, experience, knowledge and expertise, and most importantly, their love of dogs. At Pawfect Match Rescue we believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance regardless of their breed or age. We take a different approach to rescue. We don’t try to save the masses; we just save ONE at a time and make them the best dog they can be by the time they find their forever homes. By that we mean that we take them into our homes where they live amongst us and our pets and are treated as one of the family, not as a foster dog. We accomplish this by limiting our fosters to one or two per household. Besides the basics of crate training and house training, we teach them basic obedience, we groom them, feed them a high quality dog food, and last but not least, we shower them with LOVE and attention that hopefully teaches them to trust again and realize that life really IS good.. We’ll never be able to save them all, no matter how many we try to pull and foster. So we believe that the one at a time approach with the extra TLC allows us to really KNOW the dogs and be able to match them more precisely with their new families. This ends up being a win- win situation for all involved. Pawfect Match is all volunteer and relys soley on adoption donation fees and public support. Most times our adoption donations do not cover our medical expenses. If you’d like to help by donating visit us at www.pawfectmatch.com Or you can send it to Pawfect Match Rescue P.O. Box 171 Holly Springs, NC 27540 Volunteer: Our biggest need is FOSTER HOMES. If you would like to help in this capacity please fill out our (volunteer form) Our second biggest need are people that can do fundraising. If you are interested in helping in that area please email us at www.pawfectmatch.org or call us 919-522-1307
