Meet Tarzan - he is a handsome hound mix looking for his true forever home. Tarzan is a long & leggy guy who is around 65 pounds. He is a sweet boy who loves to give his foster human a hug & enjoys cuddling. He is house-trained, neutered & up to date on all vet care. Tarzan has some anxiety & needs time to warm up to strangers, especially men. Patience, love & commitment will be the key for Tarzan - & a bit of medication (he takes daily meds & does better on it than off). Tarzan generally likes other dogs but has shown some territorial issues lately so being the only dog in the home might be ideal. It seems he plays well outside of the home or on neutral turf more so than inside the home.
Tarzan needs a furever person who is patient & will be dedicated to him for all of his life - dedicated to his somewhat anxious nature, dedicated to seeking training & to whatever his care entails. He has been at his foster home a while now so any change will be an adjustment. Potential adopters should be prepared for that & ready to give him time.
As his foster mom, I envision his ideal home as one with someone who is fairly settled in life - maybe a single lady (he loves the ladies) who isn't necessarily a homebody, but isn't someone who is gone all the time or entertaining a lot of new people frequently. He is doing great in his crate now when I have to leave him & we are working on bits of time uncrated. A couch & bed that will fit both you & Tarzan is a requirement lol (fair warning - he is a bed hog). A fenced yard would be great but not a necessity - he isn't ultra-energetic but likes the safety of a yard. He attempts a game of fetch as well but is still working on giving the ball back so I can throw it again. He walks really well on a leash or harness & has gotten pretty comfortable riding in the car. He has completed some training & his general manners are pretty good. Cats are a no for him. He really is such a loving boy who enjoys snuggles & belly rubs. He deserves the best life in a furever home. Could YOU be his pawfect match?
