My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in PEPPER or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here
Please email the completed application to chanda.woofriver@gmail.com
Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached.

We believe PEPPER is the kindest dog in the universe! When he takes a treat or gives you a kiss, he is so gentle it feels like your hand is being tickled with a feather. PEPPER is flawless with big dogs, small dogs, puppies, seniors, and kitties too. This sweet boy wouldn't hurt a fly.
PEPPER has an uncanny understanding of which dogs want to play and which pups prefer to be left alone. He respects the personal space of new dogs. He isn't the type to be pushy or get in their face right at first. Once he and a dog are buddies, PEPPER will curl up next to them and snuggle every day.

PEPPER walks very well on leash and is excellent in the car. He happily trots in his crate when his foster family is leaving the house, knows how to use a dog door (this isn't required in his forever home), and knows to potty outside. This good boy doesn't jump up to say high and his delicate paws are almost silent trotting through the house even on hardwood floors.

PEPPER is such a gentle spirit yet he also has the most glorious spark in his eyes. His eyes exude intelligence. In addition to being endlessly kind and smart, PEPPER is a timid guy. He is immediately comforted by other dogs and likes to follow their lead. That being said PEPPER needs a forever home with at least one other resident dog (kitty friends are awesome but we still require at least one other dog even if you have 3 cats). If you will open your heart to PEPPER showing him patience and love, he will repay you one thousand times over. It will be the best decision you ever make!

PEPPER is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations.
His $490 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area after he is officially adopted.

Please email the completed application to chanda.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our Nashville, Knoxville and some New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com). We also use Pet Express Tupelo (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com/) For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
