My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I am Sammy, the county shelter had me as a 4 year old, 11 lbs, tan Chihuahua Mix. I have a pointed snout, long legs and chest like a greyhound. I am skittish at first, but loving once I get to trust you. I love chasing balls, playing with toys, and going on runs early in the morning. I am well mannered, potty trained and pet door trained. I’m fine with other dogs, and am on the submissive side, I’d be fine as an only dog. I lived with a cat before. I’d prefer a stay at home, or work from home mom, and older children to play with.

From my former foster mom: I fostered Sammy in early January. He was thin and scared. He was adopted within weeks. However, within five months his adopter called me with devastating news. She was diagnosed with a terminal illness and asked me if I’d take Sammy and find him a good home, She could not bear to return him to the shelter. I picked him up within hours. He literally sobbed leaving what had been his loving mom and wonderful home. I wanted to give him a few weeks to recover from his broken heart. He came around and is fine now.
