My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at this cute fluff ball! Willow is a middle age small breed gal at seven years old. Little dogs fortunately usually live a long time which gives you more time to love her! She ended up at a high kill shelter in Middle TN horribly matted to the point that she could barely walk. Her owners said she is a Maltese/Bichon Frise and she weighs about 8 pounds. Here is a little bit about her personality. Willow is very affectionate and cuddly. She loves to be in a cozy dark crate at night to sleep or to be on your lap and sit beside you. She has a strong personality and is not afraid of other larger dogs.

Willow walks great on a leash and really enjoys being outside. She will lay out in the sun for long periods of time just soaking it up.. She is 90% housetrained will only a couple of issues and that is usually revolving around rain or big changes to her routine. She likes to ride in the car and enjoys meeting new people. She does not like to be groomed, brushed or her nails or mouth handled without a muzzle. Once muzzled she will generally do ok with these things. This does pose somewhat of a challenge for the groomer but usually an experienced groomer can handle this or a slight sedative will help. We can share pictures of how matted she was when she came to the shelter and maybe this has something to do with it. So sad! Although she is amazing most of the time, there are a few areas with caution with her. If Willow is settled and comfy in a crate or on a bed, she may try to snap or growl if you try to move her suddenly. However, calling her or allowing her space to move herself is the best option. Willow is a snuggle bunny and craves attention. She would do well in a home with 1 or 2 adults, possibly 1 other dog depending on personality. If she had her preference she would want ALL of the attention but does currently live with three other dogs and a cat so that isn’t a huge problem. Like so many other little dogs, she cohabitates but doesn’t actually engage in play with the other fur babies. We think that is because she thinks she is a Princess! We think with the activity level of children, she would be best suited for a home without children. If you would like to learn more about Willow, EMAIL STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET. We are an all volunteer based rescue and a foster based rescue. Our foster homes are in many different states and we adopt to various regions.
