Mr Prince is a charming adult Shih Tzu; he has a soft multi-shade cream colored high-maintenance non-shedding coat with black highlights on his face and ears. At seventeen pounds he is within the Shih Tzu breed standard, no fat here, just solid dog. Happy, playful and gentle; we guess his age to be around eight years, which means he was probably born sometime in 2011. A truly endearing dog, his tale of horror-filled abandonment and neglect prior to arriving at the Safehouse on 08/05/2019 is enough to make you wonder why this precious little dog continues to trust and love the human race!! His left eye has been surgically removed, we don’t know when or why. The sight in his remaining eye was damaged at the animal control facility that disregarded his care and held him in excusable filth for far too long. Okay . . . hold on now . . . I can read your thoughts here. . ah ha your thinking - - he’s blind!! Wrong!! Actually this guy gets around with one eye better than some full sighted dogs I know. Mr. Prince is housetrained and will ask to go out but you’ll need to learn his language and help him adjust to your household routine and schedule. He gets along fine with the other small dogs here at the Safehouse and will willingly share a bed with one of them. He enjoys playing with soft fuzzy toys; his favorite is a doggy squeak toy that also serves as a convenient pillow. Prince must have lived in a caring home at some point in his life because he has superb house manners. This is a devoted family dog. An adult home or one with older (middle school) children – no toddlers please, we don’t know his background. If you’re looking for a grateful devoted companion to share your life and home, come meet Prince, he’s the answer to your search. Mr. Prince is healthy, neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative; he has had a complete physical and dental. His adoption fee is $350.
