My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wanna' PLAY?! My name is Tobie. I am a Yorkie mixed with Shih Tzu; I am 2-years-old; I weigh 11 pounds, and I am a really great little boy!! My non-shedding high maintenance coat is black; my handsome face is tan and so are my legs (I’m told that’s a Yorkshire Terrier color pattern) and I have a long luxurious very waggy tail (that’s from the Shih Tzu side of the family!!). I am friendly and love to play and chase and run and jump and BARK!! I have a LOT of energy and I am always excited about EVERYTHING!! My Mom brought me to the Safehouse on 07/25/2019. She loved me very much but I was in an accident and needed an expensive operation; Mom couldn’t afford it. She hated to give me up but she knew that STRAES would take good care of me. It is nice here; there are big pillow beds to sleep on and lots of squeaky toys to play with. I have fun chasing squirrels, jumping off furniture, splashing through puddles and wrestling with the other small dogs. There is a great big world to explore and I don't want to miss anything but I would really rather have a forever family and a home and yard of my very own. I like treats and try to sit nicely and wait my turn but sometimes, I do get excited and forget. I am learning to potty outside but you will have to be very patient with me ‘cause I’ll need help when I come to live with you. I don’t like my face touched, I am not a lap dog and I don’t like to be picked up or hugged but I do like to be around people and I really enjoy belly rubs and being petted. I like to play with other small dogs but I don’t want to live with them. I don’t do well with children. I don’t know much about cats but if they leave me alone I wouldn’t bother them either. I have much too much energy and curiosity to be left home alone for extended periods of time. I don’t like crates but I can manage confinement in a small room or area; although, sometimes, I do get the zoomies and then I fly around the house for the fun of it!! I am looking for a family that has the stamina to keep up with me; we can share daily athletic walks and lively playtimes (I’m learning to play fetch!!). If you are looking for a grateful companion that will give you a lifetime of devotion, love and happy tail wags, than I’m your guy!! I have had a comprehensive physical and dental; I am healthy, neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative. By the way . . as a result of the accident, my left front leg had to be amputated. My adoption fee is $400.
