My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Felix is a 3-year-old neutered male black lab. Felix weighs 58 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

DESCRIPTION:

UPDATE: September 8, 2019: Felix had an adventurous weekend! He enjoyed a couple of hikes and trips to the dog park. He joined his foster for 2- and 4- mile hikes. He stays close on the trail and recalls well. They stumbled upon a flock of turkey vultures, but Felix stayed with his foster as they all took flight - he had no interest in them!

Felix loved the dog park, saying hi to all the other dogs and owners. He has loved everyone he meets. If he starts getting attention he will give the people a major lab lean. He also visited the swimming hole and loved it! He will play fetch if water is involved, and he found his voice when excited during a game of chase. During his many adventures, Felix figured out that poking his nose out the sunroof is fun:)

September 6, 2019: Felix is settling into his foster home's routine very nicely. He rode well in the car, although he wanted to ride in the front seat to select the music:) He loves to be loved on and will park himself at your feed for a good petting and ear rubbing session. He does not jump on the couch or bed, has a very gentle mouth when taking treats, and yes - he loves snacks! He is not very vocal, only giving a few soft barks when his foster departs. He knows sit and responds to his name when called. We are working on down and manners when leaving and entering the house. He really loves meeting other dogs and people and leaning into new people if they pet him. We are working on his leash skills and exposing him to traffic and the world around him. He likes to set the pace on walks, but does not pull and will adjust his pace with a slight correction. He focuses on squirrels but does not bolt to try to get them.

Felix is a very gentle, easy-going soul. He was crated for the first two days and then given free run of the house. He does flinch a bit when you reach out to him or near him, so we will show him some extra love. Felix is scheduled to trying hiking, a trip to PetSmart and maybe a dog park. More information to come as we learn about this sweet boy!

August 28, 2019: Felix was a stray to the shelter but no more because he’s coming to Lab Rescue to find some very lucky, special people who will adore his happy sweet personality.
