Canela is a 10 year old female who came into the shelter on 8/26 as an owner surrender with Celia A205937.

Don’t let Canela’s senior status fool you, this girl still has a spring in her step. I can’t imagine how energetic she was in her puppy years. Canela is anxious at the shelter and desperately searching for her owner still. She managed to get a bad happy tail in the first 24 hours at the shelter too. When leashing she will push hard at the door of her kennel to escape so hopefully the leash makes it over her head. Once we hit the fresh air, it was off to the races. She dragged me around like we were competing in the Iditarod. Canela continued this energy level the entire time outside. She sprinted around the play lot, even propelling herself on a high table to contemplate if she could make it over the fence from there.

Canela came when I called her over with a promise of treats but she would be gone in a flash after delivery. She knows sit and feverishly eats treats. She also allowed handling all over including letting me feel the lump on her belly. So despite her youthful exuberance, Canela’s body knows she’s a senior. Going back to her kennel was rough on her and she didn’t find any relief when I walked her to her sister Celia’s kennel to see her either.
