Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jessie is a 2-3 year old Plott Hound mix who came to us from a high-kill shelter in Tarboro, NC. She is a sweet angel with so much love to give! She is very timid around new human beings and takes some time and treats to warm up to new people, but once she does, she is your constant companion and very best friend. In just one month with her foster mom, Jessie has been potty trained, crate trained, and learned some basic commands (she is VERY good at "paw"!) She LOVES being in her crate - it is her safe space - and can "hold it" for 8ish hours in the crate between trips to the bathroom. She loves to play fetch, chew her bones, and wrestle - and then take a long nap on the couch to recover!
Jessie adores other dogs and is significantly calmer around humans when other dogs are present, so a forever home with another canine friend would be ideal. Jessie thinks kids are scary (I agree) because they are unpredictable and try to pet her before she is ready, so no kids. She hasn't met a cat yet, so unsure about cats, but she would probably be afraid of them and just leave them alone. Jessie would do well in a home with a fenced yard, since she usually gets afraid on walks longer than half a mile, but this is negotiable, as she currently lives in her foster mom's apartment and is pretty happy there. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and on heartworm preventative. She was HW+ when she left the shelter, but has already received treatment and will have a clean bill of health very soon!
