My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie is an 11-year-old spayed female black lab. Maggie weighs 44 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

MOST RECENT UPDATE: Maggie is a low-medium energy petite lady looking for her forever home. She walks well on a leash, and absolutely loves being outside and going on car rides. She's a bit cautious when first meeting people, but after a few minutes and some sniffs, she's happy to make new friends. A calm and more quiet household is where Maggie will thrive and be your companion.

UPDATE: Maggie is the goodest of good girls! She arrived at the rescue scared and fearful, but Maggie has blossomed with TLC and a confident resident dog to show her the ropes. She is curious, inquisitive, and interested in everything going on. She loves being outside in the back yard looking for the good sniffs almost as much as she loves going for rides in the car, where she is very well-behaved. She knows sit and come and is learning to wait for her meals – she is very exuberant about meal time! Maggie will do best in a calm house with or without another dog. She seeks companionship, not rough house play time. She is house-trained and does not need to be crated, although she does need a quiet space to retreat to where she feels safe.

Sweet Maggie may take some time to get to know you and may not cuddle with you right away, but she wants to be with and around you all the time and enjoys being petted and getting attention. She is a loving, happy girl and she is learning how wonderful life can be!

DESCRIPTION: If you are looking for the cutest, sweetest, nicest and good-est girl ever, then look no further! Maggie has been with her foster for the past month and she has come so very far! She started out scared, shy, and afraid, and now is inquisitive, curious and more confident. She is still sometimes shy with new people, but quickly warms up. Maggie lived a sad life confined to a small space, and because of that she sometimes seeks comfort in her bed and a safe place out of the way of scary thunderstorms or barking dogs. She will do best in a calm and quiet house with a family and dog who enjoy her company, but do not want to rough house and play. She would also be fine as the only dog. She may not cuddle with you right away, but she wants to be with and around you all the time and enjoys being petted and getting attention. She knows sit, come and is house-trained. She does not need to be crated although she is gated in a room when left alone.

Maggie enjoys roaming around the fenced backyard checking out all of the good sniffs. She pays no attention to the squirrels, deer, chipmunks, birds, and even a snake, ack! She is excited to go for a walk; she does not pull too much with an EZ-Walk harness but needs a little work. She absolutely loves meal time and takes treats nicely. Maggie is a loving girl who deserves to live out her best years with a new family who will love her back.
