My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MONA is my name (for now) and cuddling is my game! I’m looking for a forever home where I can love my humans and the family will love me back. I am approximately two years young and fully grown.

My foster Mom and Dad say I am very sweet and a cuddle bug. I really love them, and they are teaching me so many great things. I love all people especially when they shower me with attention. Due to my size and strength, I would probably do best with children over eight. I still have more training to do but I am making improvements. I get to go on daily walks and progressing with my leash manners. Oh, bonus, I am fully housetrained and I’m OK with a crate (but I do prefer to be free). I do bark sometimes in the house at people and squirrels walking by (but I’m just letting my foster Mom and Dad know something is out there so be warned!). I would not do well in an apartment and will need a house with a 6+ foot fenced backyard to run around and play.

I was rescued as a stray and I did have puppies, but little is known about where and when. I have now been fixed so no more puppies for me. Before arriving at Just Paws I was with 10 other dogs with no problems. Unfortunately, for some reason since being rescued by Just Paws, I have developed a dislike of other dogs, so I need to be the only dog in the home. I am getting over ear infections, on a special medicine to help me with my anxiety to other dogs and working with a Trainer – I am now started to take walks with my foster dog sibling and that is a big step for me. My foster Mom and Dad are working very closely with me to help me become better around other dogs. If you decide I am the dog for you, I would love to continue to work with a Trainer and you because I think I really do want to have dog friends. Apparently, I am medium to high energy plus I am smart so I will learn especially if you give me treats and lots of praise.

I was just recently groomed (and I feel just great now!), and the groomer said I was an amazing dog – pictures of me and my groomer, plus report card have been posted on my rescue’s Instagram @justpawsanimalrescue -- I must admit I am looking very pretty (what do you think?)!

Here is what my Foster Family has to say about me.
“Mona loves to curl up and sleep right next to you when given the chance- she is high energy at first but once she sees it is time to cuddle, she is all in! She has already mastered shake a paw and is getting better with sit every single day- next up is stay. Mona loves to be around people all the time- she is her happiest when she is out of her crate and able to just sleep on her fluffy doggie bed in whatever room you are in. Mona has some funny traits that make you swear she is a human- she loves to sit on the couch with you and will put her front paws down on the floor to sit like one of us!”

I’m hoping I sound like the dog you would love to bring home. I promise I will try to be the best dog and give you lots of love plus I will try very hard not to disappoint! Please open your heart and home to me!!!
