My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in SPUD or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here
Please email the completed application to chanda.woofriver@gmail.com
Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached.

SPUD is a most distinguished gentleman! This guy is gentle and brings pure joy to his foster home. SPUD loves to explore the backyard, lounge on the couch, watch movies, and is even a great sport for playing dress up. SPUD has perfect house manners, is well-behaved in his crate when the family is away from the house, and walks nicely on the leash. SPUD is also a terrific car passenger so will be a dream to take on vacations, restaurant patios, and other adventures!

SPUD has the sweetest personality but also has quite a bit of spunk. He enjoys learning new tricks! He learned sit and shake from the little girl in his foster home. SPUD instantly charms everyone he meets. He has a beautiful, fluffy golden coat, but is currently sporting his summer do. He is a mellow, peaceful guy who enjoys the simple things in life. He currently lives in a foster home with two resident dogs and gets along with them perfectly (along with every other cat and dog he meets). His best friend, however, is the family’s little girl. He absolutely adores her, as you can tell from the video. SPUD is an absolute pleasure to be around. His forever family is going to have endless happy memories with this boy!

Our veterinary team says they would age SPUD at 7 years old. His personality matches 7 years young. However, he could be as old as 12. He is in most excellent health and has already received his dental!

SPUD is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations.
His $490 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the Midwest after he is officially adopted.

Please email the completed application to chanda.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our Nashville, Knoxville and some New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com). We also use Pet Express Tupelo (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com/) For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
