MORE INFO:

This little guy is just the cutest thing and truly no Chi before him has as much spunk and zest for life as he does. This sweet little guy like most Chi’s has not settled well into shelter life and because of that he’s been a difficult adoption placement. He is anxious while he is here and has bit a potential adopter during a meet and greet when he felt overwhelmed and someone reached for him towards his face. He did a typical Chihuahua bite and barely bit the person. It was more of a warning, however since he did break skin we had to place him on a bite quarantine. With this having happened he has been listed a rescue only. He is running out of time. He truly is an amazing little guy, he just needs the right place to be him.
Came in as an owner surrender on 9/14/19. Sadly this was one of those cases where the owner truly had no other option. The owners children had moved out to college which left herself and her husband and both of their work schedules were very taxing. Then to add stress to an all ready changing situation the owners downsized to an apartment. Apartment life did not settle well with Hershey and he would sing his Chihuahua song at all hours. This caused a huge problem living in an apartment and not having the means to move again. The owner did attempt to rehome through friends family and some local rescues but was in a crunch of finding him a new home or losing theirs. It was obvious that Hershey was very well cared for and loved to no ends. Behaviorally we have not seen any issues other than that normal Chihuahua bravado that they all seem to have.
Hershey is a tripod due to an injury to his leg that was not fixable. One of the children were holding him and he wiggled out of their arms and landed the wrong way on his leg. The break was severe enough that they were not able to pin it or cast it so the only outcome was an amputation.
This amputation does not hinder him in any way shape or form. The only issue that we have noted is that slick floor (wood floors, laminate) sometimes will cause him issue getting traction.
