My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fiji is a gorgeous macaw hybrid. He came to us from a hoarding case where nearly 100 animals were removed from the property. Due to this we unfortunately do not know as much about Fiji as we wish. He is either a Catalina or a Harlequin Macaw, they honestly look so similar we are not sure which on he is. Also his paperwork says he is four years old, but that can't be confirmed either. What we do know is that Fiji is safe and quite the big, goofy guy, and that's what matters most to us!

We’ve really enjoyed our time with big man Fiji here! He’s such a goofball, and the rate he’s eating his new foods he will be fattened up in no time at all!!! His antics have us laughing so much every single day, he’s a hoot! While I would love nothing more than to keep Fiji myself, that is just not feasible. That’s not stopping us from both getting attached to each other though! I would love to see him in an appropriate foster or foster to adopt home situation soon, so he can start bonding with somebody else. I just want to see him happy and moving into his next chapter of life!

A home with large bird experience is a MUST!

Things to know about Fiji/Macaws in general:
He likes women, does not appear to be a man fan at all. With time, patience, and bribery that could all change I’m sure.

He can get LOUD, but only seems to do so when he’s happy to see his people or leaving him. (According to neighbors he’s been quiet when I’m gone). He also can talk a bit when he wants to, he always very politely says hello when I uncover his cage lol.

Somebody with big bird experience would probably be best, as he can get beaky and if you don’t read his body language he will bite you. My arms are full of bruises just due to his firm grip too. He needs an owner who can read him and will not be afraid of him.

Big birds equal big bills. His toys are expensive, as is his proper diet. He will come with his huge cage and all the new toys and such that I’ve gotten him. There WILL be an adoption fee to help cover costs.

Macaws are a MAJOR commitment. I was told Fiji was four, but there is no way to prove if that’s right or not. These birds live to be a very very old age, don’t get one without learning about their lifespan (60-80 years) and being willing to commit.

Fiji is AWESOME! He’s got soooooo much personality and I know he will come out his shell more and more as he starts feeling better and knowing he’s in a safe place. I just want him with a family who sees the potential in him that I do! He’s a lover boy and a needy nugget 🙂

If you have any questions about Fiji or if you’re interested in him please let me know! And if you are interested in adopting please head to our website and fill out the pre-adoption application!
