Oliver, aka Oli aka Liver
Chew, chew, choose Oliver to be your new best friend!
Oliver arrived to Canada just a few short months ago. He had a difficult transition, but has since adjusted to his foster home with ease. He has been waiting patiently for right forever family to make him feel safe and loved!
New to Toronto, he’s super curious about the world around him. He’d make an excellent detective, following his nose wherever he goes. He’ll be the first to spot a passing friend - be it squirrel, cyclist or neighbour. He’ll wan’t to play with everyone and everything he meets, so a firm hand on the leash is a must. Watch out - his kangaroo jump is unparalleled!
Oliver is truly the silliest boy. His play bow is the best at the park. When you ask him to jump up, he’ll flatten like a pancake! All he wants is to be chased. He’s a master at hide and seek. When it’s time for his fosters to leave for work, he’ll scurry upstairs and find a hiding spot under the bed, or under the sheets. He doesn’t make it easy to leave him. The only thing that will coax him out of hiding is a liver treat. He’s very food motivated. There’s nothing cuter than this boy sitting nicely for a treat and seeing his curly tail wagging behind him!
Oliver is a high energy pup. He thrives on quiet walks with lots of play time in between. Having a stash of chew toys will come in handy. He knows basic commands, but need practice in distracting environments. Training with a professional might be helpful to master these commands and practice restraint around food and other animals.
Of course, all this play can tire a pup out! Oliver is total couch potato, often found lounging in ‘his’ armchair. Other times, he’ll come sit in your lap looking for soft head pats. Unlucky for you, he nearly 65 lbs. He’s a sucker for a full body scratch and will curl up next to you on the couch when the time is right. You’ll swoon when he throws his head back to look at you with his big puppy dog eyes.
Oliver will make a wonderful addition to his forever home. He is completely loyal to his people. In new or stressful environments he’ll be glue to your feet. Initially extremely fearful of his foster, now he’s a stage 4 clinger! Oliver would do well with a family that has solid roots in one place with no big changes on the way. A quiet and chill environment filled with attention, structure and love will bring out the incredible dog inside. If this is you, apply to adopt Oliver at covetedcanines.org/application
