My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Me’ow is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), male, DOB: 4/15/19.

Fearlessly outgoing and bold, another of our adorably charming kittens, Me’ow definitely has an-over-the-top, larger-than-life personality. Enthusiastically inquisitive with a check-it-out first, ask questions later mentality, he is looking to be present and involved in daily activities as much as possible. Independent exploration with the stalking and conquering of shadows, dust bunnies, toys, or anything else that moves – this too will be a big part of his daily agenda, but even so, Me’ow won’t wander far from activities or his favored people and other housemate pets.

Confident and completely comfortable in his own skin, he’ll be looking for lots of interaction and playtime whether it be from people, other felines, or even canines – even better, a combination of all for this engaging and highly social feline. But while completely well-intentioned, he is an adventurous young swashbuckler who will most likely overwhelm shy, retiring, laid-back, and/or timid personalities with his zesty and brash, ruff-n-tumble, ambush-style antics and play-style, particularly if boundaries are not maintained and respected.

A sincerely loving kitten eager to share his affections with those he loves when opportunities are presented (and sometimes when they are not), he’ll reveal a much softer-side as he begins to settle-down after play sessions, complete with genuine good-nature and delightfully sweet, uninhibited invitations for one-on-one attention. Seeking encouragement from gentle strokes and soft-spoken words, Me’ow revels in being close to people, he enjoys being held and snuggling in peoples’ arms (when it suits him), and he will choose attention and interaction with those he loves over just about any other activity.

Me’ow, like so many of our kittens, came to Monroe SPCA because of being sick and starving, a tiny, fragile kitten, found outdoors and thought to be recently abandoned or orphaned. He has been treated for a URI, Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, and fleas while with us.

Now a happy, healthy kitten looking for his forever home with an individual or family who can give him the time and attention a young adventurer needs. While we typically recommend a paired-adoption with another kitten who is similarly-suited in personality and temperament, and that is certainly an option; we also think Me’ow will do equally well in a home that just wants to welcome one kitten.

Me’ow is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active lifestyle and no toddlers or active, young children. He is an extremely friendly and social kitten who gets along well with other compatible cats, and he’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs and respectful children over the age of six (6).

As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Me’ow currently resides in a home with one of our foster volunteers. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process and meet Single-malt, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.

Once we receive your application, we will review it and call you to conduct a phone screening and schedule a meeting within two (2) to three (3) business days.
