My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Everyone—I’m a 3 1/2 year old domestic short-hair girl named Spencer born in May of 2016. I’m a tortoiseshell kitty, which means that my fur is a mixture of 2 colors but no white. My short, silky coat has swirls and patches of rust and black. I have been living with my foster family since September. Previously I had been in two different homes. The last place I lived had a dog and we didn’t get along so I went to live in another home and then Baby came along and I was surrendered to BCCC. When I arrived in my foster home I was nervous and wouldn’t eat very well. I even cried at night. I must have thought I was in the wrong house! But once I realized I was wanted here I settled in and began eating. Still, I’m a dainty eater and prefer small meals to large ones. I enjoy playing with toys—a catnip mouse and wand toy—and I like to chase the laser light. I also found favorite places to nap - the kitchen chair with the cushion on it so I can comfortably check out all the goings on around the place as well as well as on the sofa beside my people watching TV. I also like to look out the windows and watch the birds and squirrels . I used to go outdoors in my previous homes but now I am an indoor cat only so I will be safe. Sometimes, when my people go out the door I jump right up to the window and meow while I watch them leave! I like children but little children can come at me too quickly and be very loud. I get a bit nervous about that so I’ll be more comfortable with older children who can better understand how to treat kitties. I love to be petted and talked to. I’m a talker. When my family comes into the room, I speak right up to let them know I’m glad to see them. I don’t mind being brushed but I prefer to have it done just a little at a time. When I’ve had enough I assert my independence and either try to grab the brush or just walk away. I like to be petted around my ears and along my back but I don’t like to be scratched under my chin. This past spring there was a kink in my tail. The vet said it should heal on its own, which it has. It looks fine now. I am up to date with all my vaccines and I’ve been spayed. I hope to find my forever home soon. I think I’d be good company for you. I’ll love to cuddle next to you while you watch TV. I’m just looking for a family to love me. Please note: All cats and kittens require an on-line adoption application be completed and sent BEFORE consideration for adoption can take place.
