UPDATE -- NELSON, KATIE, AGGIE & SAMUEL Adopted 11/3/19

🐕 🐕 MAMA BESS AND HER LABOR UNION PUPS 8 weeks and #AVAILABLE 🐕 🐕

Mama Bessie delivered these her six puppies on Labor Day, so we named them after famous figures in the Labor movement in this country. And true to their breed and to their names, they are busy, “hard-working”—yet playful pups. They are 8-weeks-old on October 28th, & are ready for their first real jobs outside the home: being the best dogs they can be with their new forever families.

All of the puppies eat their meals in their individual crates, and they sleep together in their puppy pen. They are all learning to go potty on the papers in the potty area of their pen. They have not begun actual housebreaking—pottying outside—but they are beginning to understand the concept of going in a designated area.

NELSON (ADOPTED) is a gorgeous, brindle rough-coated boy. He is such a looker that when people come into the puppy room, everyone’s eyes gravitate to this little pup. He is also a sweet boy and has no idea that he is so admired! While some dogs like to lead and supervise, Nelson would rather take on a helper role. Or to love and cuddle. For a border collie, he is more on the mellow side. Let me repeat: for a border collie! Nelson is curious and likes to try new things. He enjoys playing with toys and especially the tunnel. He plays with his mom and the other pups in his litter, so he might enjoy a home with another dog. Nelson is learning to go potty on the paper, and he is successful most of the time.

SAMUEL (ADOPTED) is a lovely black and white rough-coated boy. A lover puppy, he is always glad to be picked up and cuddled. He will even give kisses for free! Sam loves people and other dogs, cats, and the variety of critters around his foster home. Samuel is a very responsive puppy, looking to his person to see what you need or want him to do. He is thoughtful and checks things out before acting because he wants to please and do the right thing. Samuel would be a delight to train, maybe even for dog sports like agility. He picks up toys in his puppy pen on his own and enjoys playing with his toys with people. He is good-natured and easy for all to get along with. Like the other puppies, Samuel likes to play with his littermates and with his mom. That said, he is such a people-oriented puppy that he might thrive best in a home where he gets his people all to himself.

LANEY is a split-faced, smooth-coated boy. His markings are so unusual and striking! His markings and smooth coat make him appear smaller than some of the pups, but only a little bit. He is friendly and sweet with people and his mom and littermates. But Laney also enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home. His best buddy is Wizdom, an older “nanny” dog in Laney’s foster home. Laney loves to follow Wiz around, climbing on his back (where he often falls asleep), and pulling on Wiz’s tail. Laney is a curious and independent pup, who likes to check things out on his own. But he is also more than happy to cuddle with his foster mom and visitors who come to meet the pups. He is active and energetic and loves to play with toys, and then he flops dog in the softest bed he can find to watch the other pups until he falls asleep.

WALTER is a mostly black smooth-coated boy. He is the funniest pup in the litter; it’s like he has a true sense of humor. Walter loves to charge ahead, trying things without hesitation, especially the tunnel. He is quick to figure things out; for example, he was the first puppy to figure out get up on his foster mom’s bed for a cuddle. He knows what he wants, and he goes for it. Walter loves toys, squeakies, and tugs, but his favorite is a smashed water bottle. He is the first to start a game when people come to visit. Walter also likes to play with his littermates and mom, but people are his go-to choice. Always.

AGGIE (ADOPTED) is a gorgeous, black and white rough-coated girl with distinctive markings. She is serious, checking things out before she moves ahead. She likes to understand things before undertaking them. This shouldn’t be confused with timidity. Aggie is not easily rattled by things, but she seems to want to do the right thing the first time. Even as Aggie is a bit serious and even dignified—she crosses her front paws whenever she lays down in a very ladylike way, she can be totally silly at times. She will be a pup likely to get the zoomies because she knows she can get an audience for her antics. She reads a situation and decides how to make it work. She is also one of the most energetic and keen of the puppies. She loves all toys and playing with her littermates. That said, Aggie is also fond of snuggling and giving kisses. She has met all the other animals around her foster home, and she is curious about all of them, and she especially likes to watch the sheep, alpacas, and geese on the other side of the fence.

KATIE (ADOPTED) is smallest of the pups, a fawn-like, sable, smooth-coated girl. Picture this: First, Katie is simply walking down the hall, then she breaks into a full run to chase the ball down the hall, and then she runs back to play tug and get a hug. Katie has such a joyous, big-hearted personality. She is one of the most active of the pups. She does everything with such enthusiasm, and she wants to share that enthusiasm with everyone around her. Katie wants to share her excitement with the world, and she wants to learn all that she can. She is food and toy-motivated. She loves everyone she meets—people, dogs, and other animals—and she loves to give kisses, only not obsessively, and to cuddle. At mealtime, Katie’s foster mom feeds her first because Katie eats slowly, as if she’s savoring every bite.

The puppies are current on vaccinations, as well as heartworm and flea/tick prevention. They are microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, they will need to be altered by their new owner when they reach approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded.
