My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Koda #2 is a 10-year-old neutered male black lab. Koda #2 weighs 58 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Koda has been well cared for; it is hard to believe he is 10- he shows no signs of aging. He has never had any formal training but is good on leash with just a collar. He is a pretty chill guy who regularly obeys the commands of sit and stay. Koda is an awesome roadtrip companion.

Koda has not spent much time on his own in the house, usually going from his crate to the yard, with brief layovers in the enclosed porch, where he never bothered anything. He never soiled his crate (up to 8-9 hours at night) so he is, or would be easy to become, housebroken.

Koda lived with 4 cats, and while he didn't spend much time unsupervised with them, was always respectful. He doesn’t require another dog, but should be fine with any dog who doesn't try to boss him around.

KODA HAS A 'SECRET ADMIRER' WHO HAS OFFERED TO PICK UP $125 OF HIS ADOPTION FEE!!!

THE LATEST ON KODA: Koda is starting to think something is wrong with him. He has great house manners and even knows which couch he is allowed to use. House trained, crate trained (although he doesn’t need one), quiet, not destructive, and LOVES his walks. Koda is such a cool dude that when his foster mom leaves town, he is always welcome at his backup foster’s home. Koda would be entirely happy as an only child, or with felines or small canines, although he lived with a large, active 2 year old Lab before.

UPDATE: Koda has become so much more playful in time- he really enjoys throwing his stuffies around. He continues to have excellent house manners and is more than just a bit of a shadow. He loved having FM’s 5 year old granddaughter over again and wanted her to stay longer!

Koda had a wonderful Thanksgiving in his foster home, but is wishing and hoping for a home of his own for Christmas. The chunky beagledor had a blast with three kids to play with and was never the least bit uncomfortable with the chaos.

Koda loves his people! He is the ultimate Velcro dog and would do best in a home where his folks are home more than not. Koda loves to snuggle, but will not get up on the furniture. Koda spent a few days with a temporary foster and did just fine with the resident dogs.

Koda loves his walks too, but we think he would do better with a fenced yard since he will walk forever before doing his business- not an ideal situation with harsh weather coming. Also, due to his diminished sight (cataracts) and hearing, he can get a little worried about dogs and people until he gets close enough to recognize them; noisy trucks can be worrisome as well. Koda is fine with visitors to the home; he will initially bark, but once he has a chance to sniff them, all is well.

Koda shows off his expert tail wagging skills. His FM says he's ambidextrous with his tail wagging. He can wag in a circle and back and forth! Now Koda is working on mastering other tail wagging tricks. He has very nice house manners. He doesn't like the crate but will go in when given a treat. Koda gets along with dogs, cats and everyone he meets. He loves to chill out on his dog bed when FM relaxes on the sofa. He sleeps all night on his dog bed next to FM's bed. Koda loves walks and toys. He is patiently waiting by the phone for someone to call for him.
