Meeko
12 week mixed breed male puppy surrendered through no fault of his own. Due to inaccurate history upon surrender, we are not sure about his breed mix, but we guess he will grow to be a medium sized dog, approx 45-50lbs.
Meeko is a very bright, social, confident puppy who will thrive in mandatory, positive reinforcement training classes to reach his full potential, which we know is amazing!
Due to his past history, Meeko has some separation anxiety which appropriate training and lots of patience should resolve. He is a quick learner and is already crate training well.
As a result of his vocalizing during crate training/separation, apartment/joined residence housing is not recommended.
He is learning new skills daily, working hard on his housetraining (requires outings every 1-2 hours during awake hours), is crate trained for sleeping at night, but still howls if crated during waking hours due to his separation anxiety, which we are working on with patience and positive reinforcement.
Meeko's leash training is coming along and will continue to improve with training.
Meeko is best suited to an adult home as younger children do cause him anxiety. However, older, dog savvy, respectful children might be considered.
He will be neutered, which is included in adoption fee, when age appropriate.
His adoption terms will be a foster to adopt basis until all vetting has been completed including his neuter. We therefore will require that his adoptive family live within 30-40 mins of St Jacobs ON
Meeko is showing great potential as a dog who would thrive in agility, rally 0 etc as he is very agile, loves engaging with other dogs and balls, excellent foot work with his balls/potential Treibball dog.
Meeko will require an active home once he is old enough to enjoy longer outings, and someone who is home more often due to his age and separation anxiety.
