Onyx came from a very abusive household. He is approximately 2-3 years old. I was in the car line waiting for my son to get out of school when I heard a man yelling and a dog screaming. I got out of my truck to see what was happening and I found onyx chained up to a 2’ lead wrapped around a tree. The man was beating Onyx with a metal rod. He had no visible food, water or shelter and was extremely skinny and malnourished. I yelled at the man and asked him what was going on and he said the dog wouldn’t shut up so he was teaching him a lesson. I then told him he had 2 choices: I could take the dog now or I could call the cops and then take the dog. He was smart enough to let me take Onyx. Onyx is loving, thinks he is a lap dog, very loyal, energetic, personable, enjoys sleeping on the recliner watching tv. He knows sit, stay, come, down, backup, fetch, get it, leave it, enough, patrol (he will go outside check the yard then come back and sit next to me which means everything is ok.
