My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome little gent is Moscato, and he is a very special kitten; he is a black and white DSH male, around eight months old, and he has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). Moscato was found outside with his momma (Rose) and three siblings, all born with the same condition as their mom. As I am sure you know by now, we personally love the special needs babies, especially CH kittos. When we found out about an entire CH family that was in danger of being put outside, we just knew they had to come to us and become the newest members of the SG family! They fit in great needless to say and we couldn’t be happier to have them and know they are safe and sound!

You may be asking yourself at this point, what is Cerebellar Hypoplasia? Feline cerebellar hypoplasia is a neurological disorder that occurs when a cat's brain did not develop properly in the womb. This disorder is congenital, meaning it is present at birth. A cat with cerebellar hypoplasia has an underdeveloped cerebellum, a part of the brain located in the back of the brain beneath the cerebrum. The cerebellum is responsible for coordination, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills. Basically these babies are very uncoordinated and wobbly with everything they do. CH cats can be born with different degrees of severity, and they typically do not get any worse than the level they’re born with. Thankfully, while this little family is quite wobbly it does not stop them from being purring, people loving, sweethearts. People often feel bad for them when they first meet them, but no need for all that. They might not be able to sprint and jump around the house like the average cat, but these kittos were born this way and know no other way of life. As far as they know all cats wobble like they do!

Don’t worry, having CH has not affected how goofy and absolutely adorable Moscato is at all! He really loves to cuddle and play with whoever will have him. Moscato is definitely the class clown of the family, he is a very outgoing and determined little wobbler! He is always ready to greet you with his sweet little head tilt and a whole lotta purrs! He is a special little dude who is looking for a special home that will spoil his cute little, wobbly self rotten!

CH cats will do best in a home where all of the things they require (food, water, litter box, and love) are all on the same floor and easy to access. As we said these guys do not get around like your typical cats at all. They may require some modifications such as a larger litterbox for them to better maneuver around in and baby gates to keep them from going up or down stairs and getting stuck in other parts of the house.
