My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA.

Sasha is a wonderfully sweet Husky girl, Red and White with a Saddleback coat and soft Brown eyes. She suffered, as no animal should, as the abused victim of a demented individual leaving her with a partially broken spirit.

Now that she is safe and in a loving foster home, she is coming around to see the good in humans. Sasha prefers women although somewhat hesitant and wary of men. She will eventually warm up to men as long as she is in comfortable surroundings and doesn't feel threatened. She has been known to jump up in excitement on people she meets or those she has met before and happy to see again. If you are lucky, she will also give you a kiss.

Sasha will need some behavior training when it comes to visitors at the house, especially men. She gets very anxious and acts in a protective manner, which is not the normal effervescent Husky behavior. This is currently being worked on in her foster home and she is showing progress. Sasha also demonstrates protective/unfriendly behavior towards those on bicycles and runners when she goes for walks.

She has a high prey drive, observed when she sees squirrels, cats, or birds. Also, she is aggressive with other dogs while on leash but when unleashed she is more friendly with them. Sasha loves being outside and going on her walks. She also likes to eat bugs and worms (yuck). She will be out and then an hour or so later she will be ready to go back out again.

Sasha is housebroken and will let you know when she needs or wants to go out. She also has some funny quirks, such as blowing bubbles in her water bowl. She makes a bit of a mess but it is funny to watch. If you walk away from her and she is looking for attention, she will sometimes nip at your heels. Sasha loves to play with her toys and will entertain herself by tossing them everywhere.

After spending some time in her foster home, Sasha experienced a seizure. Since then she has had one other. She is on medication for treatment but has not had a prior history of this that was made known to us.

She is otherwise healthy, Heartworm negative, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. This sweet soul needs some work but in time, with plenty of love and attention, she will come around and her Husky spirit will be whole once again.
