Meet the best and most adorable bully girl – EVER! Miss Mel Belle is only two years old and has spent nearly her entire life in the Dekalb County Shelter. She’s been in the same kennel and has never left the shelter even to go to foster care! It’s unbelievable that this super -cutie who is good with everyone has not been adopted yet! Mel Belle has likely been overlooked as just another energetic black dog- but she is so much more!! Finally, a volunteer has taken her home to foster her and this is when her praises really start! 65lb Mel is energetic and active, but is also calm and chill in their home. This beauty knows all her basic commands sit, shake, down, stay and touch. She learns super-fast and is a real pleaser. She obeys her commands without treats even- Mel Belle just loves the praise and affection and attention. She’s clearly a best friend kind of dog and would be the most loyal companion to her people. Mel is so happy and just loves to be around people. She was wonderfully behaved on her weekend foster, “didn’t chew anything, very quiet and settled in for a snooze as long as I was in eyesight. She was very patient for her bath and was so good in the car! She was a complete hit at Hollywood Feed - the staff gushed over her, took pictures and offered her SO many samples of goats milk and yummy cookies” he weekend foster says. Unfortunately, she had to go back to the shelter but now we truly know how awesome she is! Mel loves others dogs and plays well with big and small dogs alike. She enjoys playing with dog friends at the shelter and was great going on a walk with her temp foster’s small dog. Mel is so gentle and calm with the little ones, even after being in a cage for so long. Mel takes correction perfectly, is house trained and crate trained and will be cat tested today. Mel is hoping to get another sleepover out of the shelter- but SHE REALLY wants is an adopter or at least full time foster so she can move on with her truly forever life!
