My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This goony little beauty is Foxy! Foxy is a boxer mixed female, she is roughly 7 years old and about 50 pounds. We came across Foxy when we were at our local animal control meeting dogs and seeing who would be a great match for our program set up. We wanted older, sweet, harder to adopt dogs; and along came Foxy, who is better than we could ever imagine! She is a little tank of a lady, sporting one heck of an under bite! Between her personality and her goofy “fish-face” looks, we just knew we couldn’t leave Foxy behind. Foxy is now a proud Saving GRACE member, and we might just be obsessed with this gal.

Foxy is a seriously awesome dog! She has proven to be quite the little love bug of a lady, and adores getting cuddled and loved on by anybody who will have her! This girl has so much personality packed into her meaty little body, you just can’t not fall in love. Her signature move is to back up to whoever is sitting on the ground and then plop her booty right into your lap, it is ridiculous! Foxy is also a master at communicating her needs to you, I can’t say I’ve seen many dogs like Foxy who do such a very good job at letting you know what she wants. For example, if you have not reached her quota of booty scratches, Foxy will stand by you and whine to get your attention, and then stare from her butt to your eyes, whining, until you get the hint and pet her. She does the same thing with wanting to go outside or to tell you her water bowl is empty. Foxy is a lady who knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to ask for it!

She gets along great with other dogs, could seemingly care less about cats, and loves her some children too. Foxy had some pretty “angry” skin when we brought her home from animal control, but after a medicated bath it has cleared up great. She has had a full exam by our lovely veterinarian, and she feels that her skin rash/thinning hair was likely due to some type of contact dermatitis from her “past life”. Foxy does have some arthritis issues in her back that cause her to get pretty stiff after being too active. Thankfully she is a lazy lady, because she will need to go to a home that is laid back like she is, to keep her healthy and happy. Foxy enjoys playing, but should not go to a home with a large, rambunctious dog or hyper children who could potentially play too rough and further hurt her back. Radiographs do show that she has some arthritis in her spine and a couple vertebra appear to be fused together. While she gets stiff towards the end of an “active for her” day, our vet believes surgery would not be worth the risk and with some maintenance medications she will be just fine. With that being said, if you are looking for a dog to run and be wild with, Foxy isn’t your gal; if you are looking for a movie buddy to share your popcorn with and supply booty scratches, then Foxy is definitely your gal!

We ran a full blood work panel on our Foxy girl and found out that she has a condition called Hypothyroidism. It is not serious and it is incredibly easy to maintain. Foxy will need to take a thyroid medication from now on. The nice thing is that it is a very cheap medication, and Foxy takes her meds great in treats! We are really hoping this doesn’t deter folk’s interest in her, because she is seriously a very special dog and deserves nothing but the best. Also, if you adopt Foxy and stay in touch with me, I will purchase her Thyroid medication for you (and her). How’s that for some nice bribery so I can keep tabs on this gal??

Foxy is a foster dog through Saving GRACE, her adoption fee is $175. Foxy is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, and much more. We would absolutely LOVE to see our sweet “fish-face” Foxy in a home for the Howlidays!

If you are in the market for an awesome, well-rounded dog, then Foxy could be the pup for you! If you’re interested in our girl please head to our website and fill out the adoption application.
