My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kenai

Breed: Siberian Husky / Adoption fee is $150 / Sex: Male / Age: Approximately 3-4 yr old / Weight: 60 pounds

Well hello there. My name is Kenai and I am a Siberian Husky. I found myself at Pet Angels once the rural shelters kennels where overflowing and they needed space. While I am still new here, Pet Angels staff are still learning about me and how I act. So as they learn, my bio will be updated.

Health Note: Sadly Kenai tested positive for heartworms during his wellness check up and he will start treatment soon under the cost of the rescue. He would much rather go through or finish this process in a loving home instead of a kennel run alone. Heartworms is completely treatable and avoidable if his owners had kept him on prevention. Sadly once contracted it requires quite time and crate rest for about 30 days. SO no running romping and being crazy. Other dogs in the home will not be at risk as long as they are on Heartworm prevention.  Check out this website for more info https://www.heartwormsociety.org/heartworm-positive-dogs

House Manners: At the adoption center I am ina indoor outdoor 6ft kennel run. I know how to use the doggie door and I keep the indoor portion clean and free of potty.

Basic Training: Unknown, will evaluate soon

Other Dogs: Unknown, will evaluate soon

Cats: Unknown, will evaluate soon

Kids: Unknown, will evaluate soon

Fencing: I am a husky and I was in doggie jail for running the streets, so a secure yard with a 6ft fence is needed. Once I recover from my neuter I will get to go to the play yards and they will learn what my escape antics may be. It could be that I didn't have a secure yard to begin with, as our breed can be tought to contain.

All of our Husky/Northern breeds require fence photos if you have a yard so we give tips on containment if needed. You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines and gates after you send your application. This breed typically does better with a yard but we may have some Northern breeds or mixes that would be suited for apartments etc. please just ask. Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky you need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost approx $100) this is quite often needed to preventing digging climbing or chewing through fences. A Hot wire is typically the best route to start with for a peace of mind. Installation is simple and can be done in under 2 hours on most yards.

Northern breeds are beautiful dogs but are also a challenge and demanding and can be very destructive and hard to contain when their needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our home page. Also we likely have other Huskies or Malamutes for adoption find out by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org.

The adoption fee is $150. This dog has had its age appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration , and also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance .

Important PLEASE read if interested in adoption: Please submit an Pre-Adoption Application by clicking our logo button below (if visible) or visiting www.petangelsrescue.org to show your interest in adoption (Only submit one app). This questionnaire simply helps inform us if the dog you are interested in might match your families dynamics based on what we have learned about that dog. All of our pets at Pet Angels Rescue are featured on our independent website and can be accessed from our PETS FOR ADOPTION PAGE, you may want to look at others at our facility you like as well. We do not have staffed phones for questions, please visit these pages on our main web site, Before You Adopt & Adoption Process & App. if you don't find the information you are needing please submit a E-mail.     Ok State Ag License #STL00034
