We adopted Oatmeal from a local shelter almost three years ago, and she's about to turn 9. She's the typical lounge dog that wants to be pet forever. However, she'll run around if you work her up a bit, and she loves walking. Not too far but fun nonetheless fun for her.
It takes her a little while, but she likes the company of most dogs. She has a tendency to act dominant so she'll bump heads with ones similar personality wise. Once past that, she does play a bit and sometimes shares her bed. At her age, hyper young dogs like puppies are not a good fit.
As for cats, she simply ignores them. She does chase squirrels and rabbits in the backyard.
The only bad thing is she does have some anxiety. Separation is one which only triggers when she's in a new place and people aren't around to comfort her. The remedy is simply time in getting used to the new. Her other one is fear of loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks. She'll shiver and hide but nothing too bad.
