My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My Name is Doyle and I’m a 4 month old Sheppard mix puppy looking for my forever home. I’m very affectionate and would love someone to play with me in the backyard or let me nap with them. I am currently living with 3 very young humans and I just love licking them! My foster has 2 male dogs that I get a long great with... as long as they don’t mess with me! I’m learning to play well with my foster brothers and they’re teaching me all about sitting and not jumping. I warm up to new people quickly but I seem to prefer the ladies a bit more 😉.

I am currently crated at night and during the day while the humans go to work. I’m not too fond of the crate, but I’m still learning to go potty outside. Speaking of potty training, I’m great at going outside as long as I’m taken out frequently. When the humans get home I LOVE cuddling on the couch and sitting right on top my foster mom. She doesn’t mind since she says that I’m so sweet. I LOVE treats and am very gentle taking it out of hands. Yummy chicken jeeeerky! I have no problem with very long belly rubs or exploring the outdoors with you.

Since I am young, I will need a family who is patient and willing to train me. I’m currently 25 lbs at 4 months and have lots of growing up to do! I may benefit from someone who can dedicate extra love and time to me during the day. I currently have a large fenced yard to run around in which will be beneficial as I get bigger. I really hope to find a home that will love me and let me cuddle with them as much as possible. Please come and meet me, I promise to give you kisses!

Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.

Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
