We adopted Hank with a sister, Lenore, in 2012. He was surrendered to our local shelter around Christmastime after being mistreated in his previous home. Initially he was skittish about his sister, but over time they grew to become fast friends. Hank has always been a very loving cat who prefers to operate on his own terms. He’s curious, playful, and very sweet. Unfortunately since the birth of our twins 2 years ago Hank’s behavior has taken a negative turn. We find he eliminates outside the litter box and often appears anxious. We’ve tried special diets, separating him from the twins, and even giving him Prozac twice a day (which he currently still takes). Sadly it has not helped enough to improve his quality of life. Last fall, his sister Lenore passed away unexpectedly. Initially, he seemed to improve, but as of late, we’ve noticed a significant decline in his behavior. We’re heartbroken to consider this option as we love him very much, but it’s what’s best for everyone now
