My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joey is being fostered in IL, BDRA will assist with transport within reasonable distance.

What we know about Joey:
*is looking for someone that works from home or stays at home
*mostly blind, but well adjusted to it
*housebroken
*good with dogs, cats and kids

What Joey's foster mom has to say about Joey:
My name is Joey, a rambunctious, fun-loving Cocker and I would like to be a “constant” companion for a human who would enjoy that, too. In my perfect world, I will stay at your side, feet in your lap and cuddling with you in your bed. If that sounds good to you, let me tell you more about myself.

I have been visually impaired most of my life, but most people can’t even tell. I get around very well and can even manage stairs both up and down. If I bump into something, I just go another direction and find my way. My eyes don’t need any special attention except maybe some artificial tear drops if the weather causes them to get a little dry. My hearing is heightened to compensate for my vision and occasionally am distracted by certain noises. No big deal.

I am a very good dog and eager to please. I know the commands sit, stay and the meaning of the word ”no”.
Several hugs a day are a must and I love belly rubs and my collection of toys. My favorite comfort “squirrel” will come with me to your home.

As a healthy 7 year old I still have plenty of energy. I tend to get excited going out for a walk and will pull at my leash at first. A fenced in yard would be great for me to release some of that energy if you have one. I also am exuberant at meeting new people. My foster is working on that, but people don’t really seem to mind because I am pretty darn likable.

There is one thing about me that you need to know. When I don’t have my human with me, I am unhappy and will howl and howl and howl. My foster mom says I am very good at it! That is why it is best if my human is home most of the time and that it won’t upset any other animals in the house or neighbors living close by.
Let BDRA know if you would be a good human for me!
BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
