My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Kitty, we just call her Kitty, is a typical terrier, lively, energetic and noisy. House trained and well mannered, her owner gave her up to animal control and AC placed her in a “holding hospital”. The hospital contacted us and she arrived at the Safehouse on 11/20/2019. Kitty weighs fourteen pounds, was born on 07/02/2017, and has a standard blue and tan terrier coat. Often mistaken for an oversize Yorkshire Terrier, Kitty is in reality a Silky Terrier. Miss Kitty was hit by a car in April 2019 and her right rear leg and hip were severely damaged. She needed extensive surgery. Unfortunately her owner refused follow up care resulting in an incomplete recovery requiring additional corrective surgery. Miss Kitty was seen by a surgical specialist at the VCA Specialty Animal Hospital in Aurora. The radiographs revealed a horror story. The damage was severe and we were left with no alternative other than amputation. Miss Kitty’s rear-right leg was amputated on 12/12/2019. She made a remarkable recovery and was running and playing like a normal four legged dog in no time; her missing leg doesn’t stop her or even slow her down. There is no reason why this darling dog cannot enjoy a normal life climbing stairs, chasing squirrels, jumping off furniture, splashing through puddles, digging holes and wrestling with other small dogs. A charming lap dog but no couch-potato . . . Kitty is one tough girl who is looking for a Super Human who can keep up with her!! She is always ready for anything - hiking, camping, climbing, running, and doggy sports. She can tolerate a crate but prefers confinement to a small room - - especially if the room has a big window for watching the world go by!. Young, waggy tailed and very playful, this adorable dog is eager to find a family, a forever home and a lifetime of love. Miss Kitty is healthy, spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative; she has had a complete physical and dental. Her adoption fee is $350.
