My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kala | 11 months old | 30lbs | Fostered in Scarborough

Sweet Kala joins us from Mexico, where she was found at just 6 weeks old attempting to cross the street. She was rescued by our partners there, who gave her a wonderful shot at a new beginning. Now, in Canada, she is looking for her forever home so she can experience the joys of being truly loved.

Kala is learning the joys of being a puppy in her foster home. She really enjoys ripping apart stuffed animal toys and making it rain fluff! She currently lives with a lab and loves a good game of fetch or playing tug of war with her. Like any puppy, she sometimes gets a little over excited or chews or things she shouldn’t, but with redirection she learns quickly. She currently knows the commands in Spanish and her foster-mum is working on translating them into English for her. She is totally house trained and has not had an accident since her arrival.

Life has been full of new situations for Kala and she looks to her human to provide the security she needs to face them. She has her paws crossed that her forever home will be full of love, affection, security and patience. She knows she will be a wonderful dog, if only she had the right people to show her that the world isn’t as scary as it seems. She would prefer a home where she isn’t left alone for too long, to help her with that feeling of being safe. She doesn’t show any signs of separation anxiety and within a few minutes settles in for a nap. She currently lives with an 8-year-old and does well with him. She has not been tested with younger children.

Kala is timid when meeting new people and does well when given time to approach on her own. When she is unsure, she tends to hide behind her human. When out on a walk, when she sees or hears other dogs, she tends to stop in fear. She took a couple of days to understand her foster sibling, but after a couple of days she realized there was enough love and food to go around. Overall, she is an affectionate girl, and would love a home where she can snuggle up to her favourite people. She does a cute wiggle butt dance when her foster mum comes home. Her ideal home would be one that is in the suburbs, so that there aren’t too many unfamiliar noises to contend with daily.

Kala has been spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
