My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE   ADOPTED BY HIS FOSTER FAMILY

I am making an executive decision as the foster mom of this glorious Collie.  His forever name will be Sir Galahad.  He is gentle and loving and gracious toward all living things.  His manners are lovely, although where he learned these things is a mystery.  My vet at Hilltop Pet Hospital thinks Galahad is 6-8 years old and is in pretty good shape.  His T4 is low so we have sent out a full thyroid panel to see if he is truly hypothyroid or it is registering as low because he was so debilitated.  He is eating his prescription diet like a champ, twice a day and taking his allergy pill each morning in peanut butter.  The look on his face as he is getting the peanut butter of the roof of his mouth is priceless!  He needs to put on another 8-10# and when his fur grows in, he will be stunning!

BlueDog is a 'white-factored' neutered male rough Collie that was abandoned near Wichita, Kansas.  Perhaps in part because of his recessive genetic background,  Blue had red and weepy skin.  He is on the mend from that issue with a specific prescription food for dogs with food allergies (Hill's Science Diet salmon and potato).  He has also had an injection of a relatively new medication called Cytopoint (for atopic dermatitis, which means itchy skin!)  He is itch-free which must be a great relief to the pooch.

BlueDog is arriving at our Director's house late today (4/18/20).  We will fine-tune all of his medical care here to make sure he is in the best shape of his life.  His bloodwork is all good so we already did a complete dental on him.  We are told he is 4-6 years old and loves everyone... men, women, children, other dogs and cats.

More details as they becomes available.  No one will be considered for adoption without a completed application which you will find on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org.
