My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Omar is a wonderful 9-12 month old Shih Tzu/Pekingese puppy whom everyone falls in love with. He has difficulty staying calm and focusing on what you want him to do because he is so excited with life (such as trying to get a good picture for his posting!). He had a terrible start and was found walking down a road with a body covered with wounds so infected that they were infested with maggots. He has only one eye and very limited vision, but is a puppy first and visually impaired second. His vision does not stop him from having fun with everything he does.

Omar is so loving and loyal. He will bond with his person or family and be one of the best pets we have ever seen. He is a pure clown and you have to laugh out loud at his antics. His favorite word is play. He loves stuffed toys. Omar needs someone who can be very patient with him and show him all the things he has not had a chance to learn in his short life. He is learning to calm down and will do much better as he gets a little older and gets over his amazement with all the wonderful things that have come into his life. You can’t meet Omar without falling in love with him.

This week, thanks to the generosity of his foster mom, Omar is starting two weeks of obedience classes in a school that specializes in working with visually impaired dogs. He is so smart that we're sure he will excel at learning to focus his energies.

Omar is being fostered in Chapel Hill, NC and his asking adoption fee is $300.

E-MAIL INQUIRIES WILL BE RESPONDED TO MUCH FASTER THAN TELEPHONE CALLS.

NOTE: Due to the volatile price of gas, getting multiple volunteers to help with long distance transporting is no longer feasible. We have listed the town and state where each dog is being fostered. Please consider how far you are willing to travel when filling out the application. The foster home will usually volunteer to help with transport for a reasonable distance.
