Moon and Minnow are 8-month-old male Pyr/Border Collie mixes. They will be about 80 to 85 lbs. when fully grown.
These brothers are beautiful, sweet and friendly dogs but they had a sheltered beginning in life - having never left their home or property until just this month. The first 4 months of life are the most critical socialization period for dogs, and these two missed out on seeing and learning about a lot of aspects of the human world (cars, harnesses, walking on leash, seeing trucks, going places).
They are friendly and happy in known environments. In new environments they are insecure.
These adorable boys are smart and are already learning and gaining confidence, but they will be dogs who need a committed, patient person to show them the world. They will also need to go to a home with a confident, stable resident dog to show them the ropes.
They have lived with another dog, and seem to like other dogs. They also have lived with cats successfully. They're learning new skills every day and are quick learners & eager. They've met children and were very friendly & appropriate, along with meeting several other dogs. HOWEVER, we are saying no resident children because of their special needs.
We will only consider applications to adopt them individually - you must have a fenced yard, a confident resident dog and not an urban setting.
