My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adalyn is our adorable little miracle girl, an unclaimed stray saved by us just minutes before she was Schedueled to be euthanized at the kill shelter because her stray-hold time was up and no one had come to claim or adopt her. Her whole rescue was totally an answer to prayers and God working all things together for a great outcome on her behalf. With barely minutes to spare we were able to find a volunteer to go to the shelter and get her out, make a vet appointment & get her onboard transport to the veterinarians! The veterinarian & her volunteer said she was very friendly and sweet, but had a collar on her that was way too big and heavy and caused her to hang her head low down between her shoulders and look very sad, she was obviously not treated well in her previous life as she was extremely thin and had scars and wounds at all different stages of scabbing and scarring on her legs and other parts of her body. Our volunteer Who picked her up from the shelter for us noticed how big and heavy the collar was and how she had her head hung down almost like in shame, the volunteer pulled the car over and gently remove this ridiculously huge collar from the dog and she said that Adeleine immediately started kissing her changed her whole body posture, The volunteer said she was almost in tears to see the immediate change in the dogs disposition and body posture. She's not a very big girl her legs are short like a corgis but her coloring her and muzzled is that of a boxer, and her head is almost shaped like a Shar-Pei. We don't know what breed she is for sure but she sure is adorable. We figured out that someone had tied her in a yard and never paid a bit of attention to he, and as things go in the south stray dogs usually victimize tied-up lawn dogs with brutal attacks - the chained up dog can't get away, what a horrible frightening life for a dog. Quarantine is required for dogs coming out of the shelter for out-of-state Rescue so she was then sent to the veterinarians to get spayed and all her vaccines, day of spay the vet called us quite concerned because after that they had knocked her out to begin the spay surgery they noticed that her gums were as white as sheets ... this was not a good sign, that said that if he went through with the surgery he didn't think she'd have enough blood to survive... we had vet do a full blood panel and everything else they thought was necessary to determine what was going on with her. We found out that she had hardly any white blood cells or red blood cells and the test showed that she had been fighting a losing battle for a very bad internal infection for a long time... infection of unknown origin ... oh and she was positive for intestinal parasites so vet wormed her, there for a while we were afraid that she wasn't going to make it, intensive care boarding at vet for weeks, the vet suspected that she had eaten rocks to kill the hunger pains and perhaps she had a intestinal blockage or maybe the infection was caused by rocks lodging themselves somewhere ... they did x-rays and ultrasounds ... and every few days more blood work was done, vet put her on IV antibiotics and prescription food, iron etc, She begin gaining much-needed weight & showing improvement, follow-up blood tests determined that she improved enough so vet could safely spay her. So Adelyn was spayed, vaccinated, is totally recovered from whatever infection she had, completed her quarantine, made her trip north and is in a loving foster home in Vermont ready to be adopted into a good home. About her personality, this dog is a total ham! Seems every time the camera comes out she smiles, whoever she sees she instantly loves, she gets along good with other dogs and doesn't realize that at 30 pounds she might not make an ideal lapdog for everyone. But she's so enthusiastically friendly and gentle at the same time it's hard to deny her a spot on your lap. Yes she's definitely a happy healthy and wonderful little girl! She loves to go for a ride in the car playing in the fenced yard or just hanging out next to you on the couch or squeezing herself onto your La-Z-Boy. She's extremely smart and very loving, has been crate trained and cries when she wants to go out to go potty, she learns quickly with treats She would do best in a home with someone that has owned dogs before because she can get overly excited at times, she thinks it's a game to grab stuff out of your hands ie: trying to put something in the garbage. We definitely want home to complete obedience training. (she does not use her teeth when she does this but still it's startling if you're not expecting it and she could get something in her mouth that's sharp or dangerous for her). Adelyn's foster home had started her with obedience classes but because of COVID-19 the school shut down. Adelyn' ideal adopter is someone who has children over 10 years old, is fiscally responsible, stable, mature, patient, can you get dog on and keep on a routine of walks, training and nutritious meals and understands that this dog has already had enough anxiety, neglect, injuries, and uncertainty and let downs in her life - Addie really needs their commitment and devotion to her long-term welfare ... Ideal adopter must agree to completing a 6 week group obedience course and following our 2 week shutdown- new dog in house instructions - we want to set her up for success in assimilating into her new forever home & a have a happy healthy well-adjusted life. The details of her past and our hopes for her future should not overshadow what an amazing, happy, sweet, loving, adorable little dog she is. She's very eager to please and make you happy and with proper guidance she'll be the best dog you've ever been owned by! Oh and did we mention how she likes to snuggle up? She is definitely a snuggler".
