My story

Hi, I'm Lewis (Lewie) and I've been told that I'm stinkin' cute! I am about 3 years old and probably a Bull Terrier mix. I am a good mixture of everything you could ever want in a dog. I love all people (young or old) and all dogs and I ignore cats (unless they go running through the house and I am feeling playful. I can be your typical lap dog, a running partner, a couch potato, a playful pup for your playful pup or just a shadow that follows you around. In other words, I am happy to do whatever it is you want me to do and I go with the flow of my house. I love to chew bones and play with toys. I have been living without a crate but I am ok in a crate too. I will let you know every once in a while, that I should be out of the crate. I am potty trained. As you can see, I'm winking at you.... My eye was hurting me so I wanted it taken out. But don't worry, it hasn't slowed me down at all. I do have one issue that you need to know about. I have Idiopathic Epilepsy, which means I have seizures at times for no reason. But the nice people at Habitat 4 Paws took me to the neurologist and she said "I have just the medicine to help prevent those seizures." As of this point, I haven't had a seizure since February! Isn't that exciting? I will need to stay on my medicine for the rest of my life but that is ok. Even with my medical challenges, I know there is a family that will adore me if they give me a chance. My foster mom says that I am a fabulous dog that needs a special family to love me the rest of my days. There is a whole world out there that I want to explore. Wanna come with me?

Additional adoption info

FEES: Dogs are $200 Puppies under 1 year are $250 Cats and kittens are $140 All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption. Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet. We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too. If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.

Go meet their pets

Nearly every weekend our pets that are ready for adoption are featured at locations such as Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other locations. We can also arrange visits throughout the week. Check out the Events page of our website for a current schedule of events: www.habitat4paws.org.

More about this rescue

The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group. Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.
