My story

HENRY has a story - he's a miracle cat. He was found hanging upside down from a tree unconscious and hyperthermic one very cold winter morning. Due to his struggle that fateful night, he was an inch from death and also his back legs and tail were paralyzed. After a being hospitalized, he came into foster care where he had daily massage and a lot of TLC.
He has made a full recovery! He runs and jumps and plays better than any of us! We're looking for a special person/ family who appreciates what he's been through, understands his quirky personality, and loves him for the rest of his life. Henry is quite shy around humans, however he ADORES dogs and absolutely needs a cat-friendly dog in his family. He gets along GREAT with cats as well :-)

This kitty is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.

Revised adoption policy
Due to Covid -19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, we've temporarily revised our adoption policy. First, please email (desertpawsnm@gmail.com) to inquire before you fill out the online application. (Please do not call or text). We are unable to do multi-dog/cat meetgreets or adoption events at this time or bring multiple animals to your house to choose from, so please only inquire if you're serious about adopting this particular animal(s). If you're just shopping around with several shelters and rescues, please let us know this. If you're application is approved (which 'could' take up to one week) then we will contact you to set up a day/time to bring the pet to you. We may ask you to send us pics /video of your home/yard/living area/current pets since we can't come into the home for the meet/greet due to Covid-19. At the meeting/adoption at your house (outside) please wear a mask (as will we) and have hand sanitizer.

We adopt locally to Central Abq, Santa Fe and Rio Rancho. No out of area adoptions inquiries please. No young children for our adoptions please. We like to stay in touch - pics, videos, social media, etc :-)

More about this rescue

We work with the animals at three local Indian tribes (pueblos). We have a spay/neuter called, Door2Door, we assist animals with medical emergencies, prevention, education. We rehab and re-home the unwanted, abandoned, and neglected. At the time of adoption, we bring the pet to your home to make sure all family members including all fur babies get along and all are onboard and committed to the pet. We have an adoption process and we like to stay in touch with the families for the life of the pet.
