My story

Orella arrived at Horse Creek Wildlife Sanctuary on March 19, 2020.

She is a very friendly girl! She enjoys playing with her toys and spending time with other dogs in our fenced exercise areas. She loves going for long leash walks with our volunteers along our walking trails.

Orella is a full-grown Labrador Retriever/Bassett mix and she weighs 36 pounds.

She is patiently waiting for her forever family to come adopt her! You will not be disappointed, if you give sweet Orella a chance to show you all the love she has to offer.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered and current on all vaccinations. They receive monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. All of their medical needs are taken care of before they are available for adoption. Our adoption fee is $100.00. Please complete an application, if you have found a dog you are interested in adopting. You can find our application at www.horsecreekwildlife.org/applic.html. Once completed, you can forward it to adoptions@horsecreekwildlife.org or fax it to 731-926-3000. Kim Austin, our adoption facilitator, will be in contact with you as soon as she has an opportunity to review your application. Understand that she has other duties and she will not ignore any interest shown in adopting one of our dogs. An application will need to be approved before a scheduled time to visit our dogs will be set up. It may take up to 48 hours before she returns your call or responds to your email, due to work schedules, holidays and adoption events. We do the very best we can for the dogs we have rescued and do not take the adoption process lightly. Please be patient and understand that we will place our rescued dogs in the very best homes possible and reserve the right to refuse applications.

Why adoption is a great option

Orella, a Savannah Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound for sale in Savannah, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Savannah.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Savannah already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Savannah breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Savannah paves the way for another one to be saved.
