Sampson is about 2 years old and a bundle of love and affection. He hasn't been out of the shelter for very long and is just starting to come out of his shell and relax. At first he was extremely clingy, a major velcro dog that wouldn't even go outside without his foster with him. His previous owner must have gave him little attention because he is trying to get as much as possible now.
Sampson was picked up by Animal Control after numerous calls. They could never locate him until one day some kids held on to him until AC arrived. He spent his week in the shelter and we all thought his owner would be looking for him. He was healthy and in pretty good shape despite a limp. The shelter originally thought maybe he had been hit by a car.
Sampson yelped in pain a lot the day we took him. It seemed like it came from his hips, but xrayed showed that his hips were fine. He was put on anti-inflamatories and pain meds for a week and the pain seemed to decrease, but every now and then he'd yelp. His foster home noticed that he favors his front right leg, but all seems okay with it. The vet is currently wotking on trying to pin point his problem, which may just be a pinched nerve, but we won't give up until we figure it out. He is much more comfortable now and plays great with his female foster sister.
Sampson would do best as an inside dog that gets lots of attention. A female dog around his age for him to rough house with would be perfect. He hasn't been around children, but he has never shown any aggression and is pretty mellow with people, so I think he would be okay. Like any dog, he shouldn't ever be left alone with them. Whoever adopts this boy will be get a very sweet and loyal companion. He is one of the favorites at our vet clinic.
If you think Sampson is perfect for you, please let us know!
