My story

Luna is a 12yr old Bull Mastif mix. She was cruelly dumped at kill shelter in her golden years. She was on the euthanasia list and just seemed to accept her fate…. until we stepped in. She’s been with a wonderful foster who is helping her to trust again, but it’s taken awhile. She loves to nap and go for walks. She’s good on leash, as long as she wants to go. She is best in a home with no other dogs, cats or children under 13yrs old. She needs a patient person with a big heart to help her believe again that people can be good.

Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Inc., is a 501(c)(3) not for profit, all volunteer NYS corporation which has been operating on Long Island for 40 years. We are working to create a better welfare system for all the animals in our communities. Over the years, we created, and continue to create, a number of valuable programs which serve to promote our mission to create respect for all animals, to educate individuals about animals, to help people keep their animals, and to provide assistance with the control of the animal population on Long Island.
