My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SECURELY FENCED YARD REQUIRED

CARMEN WILL BE PLACED IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA

Carmen is a nine-year-old (DOB 5/7/2011) blue merle sheltie.  Carmen came from a commercial breeding facility but is very friendly and has been socialized with people. She is a sweetie and would let you pet her all day, if you were up for that. But if you are busy, she won't pester you and will find a toy to play with or curl up for a nap. She is house and crate trained. She gets along well with her foster mom's two dogs. She does not walk on a leash yet and has learned to come up and down two stairs but will need to learn how to do a full flight of stairs. She just had puppies so she is carrying some extra weight which will come off with time, healthy food and exercise. Currently, if you want her to go into the crate you do have to pick her up and she currently weighs 27 lbs. Her adopters would need to be able to pick her up. With patient training, she could learn to go into her crate, walk on a leash and do stairs. When shelties have puppies they often lose a lot of their coats. With a healthy diet and time, Carmen's coat is going to be beautiful.  She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and micro shipped.  She is heartworm negative and on preventative which the adopter agrees to continue. Her foster mom has fallen in love with her and knows she will make a great addition to a loving family.
