My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone! Shadow here checking in after my first full day with my Foster Parents and their fur kid. I was a bit nervous at first but I like getting attention and running with my new friend. Maybe my name is Shadow because I follow my Foster mom around and never leave her side. I was leery of Foster dad at first but now I give him great cuddles and love to have him rub my tummy. Some fun facts about me: I’m a petite little thing- probably under 50 pounds- and have the softest fur! I go in my crate all by myself when I want some space and time to myself and FM levels to crate door open for me. I do sleep in my crate at night and I will admit I cried my first night here cause I was scared but my fur brother came and slept in the living room with me and it made me feel better. I get my breakfast and dinner in my crate so there won’t be any issues with my fur brother and boy do I chow down. We do take turns at the water bowl and I love to drink! I might gain a few pounds but FM thinks that would be a good thing. I have such high energy and love to run so I’m sure the extra chow won’t hurt my girlish figure!
Although I’m a little thing, I have a big guttural growl that is for fun and play but it sure surprised everyone when it came out. I like to play with my 70 pound fur brother and I can hold my own. We take turns being in charge and once in a while my Foster Mom will make us sit and take a break so things don’t get out of hand. Because we just met each other we are always supervised but I have a feeling it won’t be long before we are cuddling on the couch next to each other. I keep my eye on him and can open my eyes really, really wide which makes FM laugh.
I got to meet the neighbor girl who is 6 and the 2 year old grandson who came for Sunday dinner. I was so good! The adult kids came for dinner too and I barked when they came in because it made me a bit nervous but I really liked them. I also saw people and some deer on the trail by my house and I barked at them a little but FM talked me through being calm. She says people and animals use that path all the time so I need to get use to it. I don’t beg but I do like to hang in the kitchen in case anything hits the floor...ya never know! FM doesn’t want to give me too many treats because she says I have the stinkiest farts...Well I never!
I will check in again in a few days. I KNOW someone out there is just waiting for a sweet girl like me! I’ll be waiting to hear from you!

1/19/19: Hi everyone! I’m checking in after my first 2 weeks in my foster home. I’m taking a break after wrestling with my fur brother so I have a minute. I have adjusted to my new home and am so much more comfortable than I was at first. I no longer sleep in my crate, I’m on the big bed with my family. Even though it’s a bit crowded I stay at the foot of the bed and hardly even move all night long. My crate is still up and always open. I use it everyday to just chill and it’s my secure space to escape.
I’m a great couch cuddler and I’m starting to understand playing with toys. My favorite thing to do is play with my fur brother but I would be a great only dog as well. I get along with big and little dogs, but please, please do not have one of those meowing things- defiantly NOT my thing. They remind me of squirrels and ohhh if I could only get hold of one of them! I love exercise and I have been to the dog park with my Foster Mom. I was nervous at first but I kept checking in with FM who reassured my I was doing a good job. I like to bark but I can stop when FM tells me to. I am learning other commands as well and with a little work I will be the perfect dog for YOU! I can’t wait to meet my new family!
