My story

Meet 10k!

We believe 10k to be 3-4ish years of age, hound lab maybe Staffy bull terrier mix, absolutely a super mutt mix. He is a megastar with people and loves children of all ages. A bit obsessed and can be protective of them with strangers but easily understands when told is okay. 10k is a simple laid back medium energy and very sweet disposition with so much love to offer. He is active and playful but mostly a great companion pup. 10k enjoys simple daily walks but most of all relaxing, sleeping in and enjoying his people. Honestly, he goes with the flow of his people. 10k makes the best Netflix pup too! 10k would make the best sidekick for any kiddo in need of a best friend. Older children are best as he can bump them but he’s been around babies as young as 2 years of age and done fabulously with them. A fully fenced-in yard is preferred but his training and recall are excellent. He walks great on the leash (he can be a puller some but is so much better). He will need a semi-active happy home that enjoys everyday simple living. Daily walks, he loves car rides, the occasional pup cup is cool, and lots of love and cuddles with snuggles and plenty of heavy binge-watching Netflix on those blah wet cold days too.10k is food and praise motivated and enjoys his training sessions which makes training with him easy and fun. Mostly he enjoys spending his time with people. 10k becomes best friends with everyone he meets and has been labeled a stage 5 clinger. With so much love to give he refuses to limit himself or not take advantage of every moment with his people. 10k loves toys too! 10k is truly a perfect dog. He is dogs, cats, and all small critters friendly. He is learning how to play but he would be just as happy as an only dog as long as he has friends to interact with and a family home most of the time. 10k makes an excellent motivational walking buddy too, he enjoys hikes and trails. To be honest 10k wishes to belong and be part of the family more than anything so whatever his people do or don't do he will be happy with it.

10K is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention.

Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter.

We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a lifetime commitment.

Additional adoption info

Completed applications MUST be Printed & Mailed via United States Postal Service. We are a volunteer-based rescue, meaning every person involved is doing their best. Taking time out of their busy day to best help provide proper daily maintenance care for every dog and/or cat in our care until the best match with a happy forever adopter is made. Normally our adoption application processing review may take 2 to 3 weeks give or take. If you are seeking same-day adoptions then AHS may not be the best fit for your needs. We do not agree with impulse adoption. Adopting any pet is a decision that should not be taken lightly nor made impulsively.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based all-volunteer program. We are not a government shelter facility nor are we open to the public. Our adoption process can take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail it in to the time that we reach out to you. If you are window shopping we are not the rescue for you. We are seeking committed adopters.

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit licensed rescue. Our mission is to help homeless animals find great forever homes. Educating the public on spay and neuter. Sharing joy and respect for all precious life. Our heart is with the community, helping families keep their pets at home. We have a few programs including Feeding the homeless and their pets. The hospice heaven program consists of pulling older cats and dogs from high kill shelters and placing them in a loving home. Matching senior pets with a senior home.
