My story

Rescue date  6/15/17
SHELBY is a cute little PUREBRED Chihuahua who is about 4 years. old and weighs 9 lbs. She was one of several dogs who were rescued from the backyard of someone who was unable to provide them with proper care. She loves other dogs but is a bit on the unsure side when interacting with humans. She's a sweet girl who just needs to continue working on building her confidence. She is best suited for a quiet adult family in which someone can be with her throughout most of the day. Having a well-adjusted companion dog to follow and learn from would be extremely helpful to her as well. She just needs someone to believe in her and help her to blossom into the happy, confident little fur-kid who she deserves to be. The Adoption Fee for SHELBY is $225 and includes spay, up-to-date vaccines, and microchip with registration. Please NOTE that she is AVAILABLE for ADOPTION in CA ONLY! Please understand also that we are a non-profit organization that operates on a small number of volunteers. We are, therefore, UNABLE to ACCEPT PHONE CALLS at this time. If you'd like more information about SHELBY, please send an EMAIL to us at www.saveasmalldogrescue@gmail.com. To submit an online ADOPTION APPLICATION, please go to the SASDR website at www.saveasmalldogrescue.org. We receive numerous applications. If you are among the finalists in the selection process for SHELBY, you will be contacted by phone from SASDR for a phone visit. If you are not available at the time of our call, we will leave a message that includes a time at which we will try later to reach you. SASDR is located in Phelan, CA (San Bernardino County in southern CA). ThanksWe are located in the High Desert, Phelan, next to Victorville and Hesperia.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Save A Small Dog Rescue, Inc. DOES require you to fill out an Adoption Application as well as an Adoption Agreement. There is also an Adoption Follow-Up Contract. You may be subject to a home inspection. There is an adoption donation. Our adoption donations range from $125 up to $400 depending on the dog and circumstances. Your adoption donation does not reimburse us for any money we spent on your dog. It is used to help pay for all of the expenses incurred with our rescue program. Unlike animal shelters, we do not receive County funding or other forms of income. We rely on your donations (on top of our adoption donations) to cover the costs associated with rescuing dogs from the shelters, veterinary expenses, dog food, supplies, utility bills, and all other expenses incurred while providing for the dogs in our care.

Go meet their pets

Save A Small Dog Rescue, Inc. does Adoption Shows every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the PETCO in Beaumont located at 1634 East 2nd Ave (951-769-8157). We also do adoptions from our home, weekdays, in Phelan by appointment (760-269-4519). We have that "special dog" looking for that "special person". We look forward to seeing you!

More about this rescue

Save A Small Dog Rescue, Inc. is a Private Dog Rescue Organization that rescues and adopts dogs. We house dogs less than twenty pounds. All dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date with vaccines including rabies, dewormed, and micro-chipped. We are a 501 (C) 3 non-profit, charitable tax organization. We are a public benefit corporation. We are truly dog lovers. We are devoted to providing lots of love, nurturing, socialization ( which is a big factor), and patience with the dogs in our care. In return, we want to find people who will love them as much as we do. We are a no-kill rescue which means we house the dog until we find it their "forever" home. The adoption fee barely covers the cost of us caring for the dog. We depend on your donations which goes towards us helping the next dog.
