My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

'

Dexter we believe was dumped at a country cemetery. There was a pile of dog food poured out on the cemetery road. We received a call from a family reporting a dog hanging out in the cemetery for a couple of days. It was pouring rain and he was just sitting there at the top on the hill waiting. Waiting for his owner to come back and get him. He would not come to us or the neighbors. The humane officer set a live trap with food but he wouldn't go in. The family finally gained his trust and they were able to load him in their vehicle and bring him to the shelter. Dexter came to the shelter fearful of his new surroundings. Each day he becomes a little more trusting of the shelter staff. When we take him out in the fenced in exercise area he loves to fetch and jump up in the air to catch a ball. He will sit and give paw for a treat. Someone taught him these commands. Did he get dumped or is he lost? No one came or called looking for him. He's around 1 year old and weighs approximately 65lbs. We don't know how he is with other dogs or cats right now. We'll continue to work with him so he can find the perfect home. Who would like to come meet Dexter and play ball?
