My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Romeo has done a 180°.  This little old man decided he wanted to LIVE!

Romeo has been given the 'all clear' by his vet.  His cancerous eye was removed.  He responded well to treatment,  He uses a doggie door.

He is an AMAZING little dog.. with SO MUCH love to give.... He's stubborn, and strong willed... wanting to discover what's beyond his leash.  He DOES NOT TOLERATE CATS!

Romeo does have mild luxating patellas, but he doesn't seem to be bothered by that.

Romeo will NOT GOT TO A HOME WITH CHILDREN (as he has a bite history)

Romeo was found by a good Samaritan in a pet carrier in a field.  He was flea infested and his hematocrit was in the single digits.  The Good Sam dropped him off at a vet clinic nearby and a a vet tech took him home and syringe fed him, administered Sub-Q fluids... but realized he needed more help than she had resources for.  She reached out to us.  We picked him up from her home the next day!  We rushed Romeo to our vet for evaluation.  He continued to decline.  At the end of the day, we transferred him to Blue Pearl ER for a blood transfusion.  He was dying.  The next day, we took him back to our vet for observation.  We brought him home and fed him and gave him meds.  Each day he got stronger.  Each day his will to live grew stronger and stronger.  10 days after he was found, he was strong enough for surgery.  We removed his ruptured eyeball, and gave him a dental.  We are hoping alleviating some of his pain will help him overcome his tendency to bite.  Follow Romeo on our Facebook page.
