DNA tests show Butch is 26.6% labador retriever & 14.4 % Siberian husky. He was dumped in the community of DFW Collie Rescue (southwest of Ft.Worth, TX). It took a while to make friends with him, but we did and brought him into our care. He is around 5 years old & been in rescue 4 yrs. He is loyal, loving & a wonderful companion & learnes quickly. He is a sweet,sweet dog with a teddy bear disposition & needs a home where he can go for rides, hikes & playing with other dogs. He is crate trained and a good rider. He walks on a leash but does need practice. . He will sit and shake hands for a treat. He is a big guy with clear blue eyes that can seem to stare a hole through you. He is good with female dogs, He is afraid of the resident cat. He loves to run in the fields and pastures at his foster home so he is definitely not a town dog unless there is place close by in the country for him to run. (Or the yard is 2-3 acres) He does like to dig (especially when he smells something.). so he will need a secure fence. Butch is neutered, current on shots and heartworm negative and on preventive. He is also microchipped. The application can be emailed or mailed. The app is geared toward collies but can apply to any breed. When the app is received a home visit will be scheduled (virtual can be arranged and references contacted. There is an adoption fee, 6.75% Texas sales tax and a small fee to register his microchip. Meet the Pet
Prospective adopters are always welcome to visit with the collie they are interested in adopting.

Sign Adoption Contract
Adoption contract must be signed along with an adoption fee and microchip fee collected. A 7 day trial period is given to the adopter(s).

Take the Pet Home
The adopter may pick the collie up or it may be delivered to the adopter's home.

Available collies are located 25 miles north of Stephenville, Tx. (about 50 miles southwest of Ft. Worth, Tx.) An appointment must be made to come and visit with the collies.

DFW Collie Rescue was founded by Carolyn Edgmon in 2005 with a mission of rescuing collies from the Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Tx. area. Over the years collies from all parts of Texas and Oklahoma have been rescued and adopted. We are a small organization adopting around 15 collies a year and yet since 2005 over 300 collie and collie mixes have been adopted to new forever homes. Carolyn showed and raised collies for over 25 years and has an extensive knowledge of the collies. Foster homes are always needed and must be approved the same as an adopter. Once approved, a foster must agree to the terms of the foster home agreement. Any expenses for the collie in a foster home are paid for by DFW Collie Rescue. Donations are always needed to help pay expenses such as vetting, food, heartworm preventive, etc. Donations may be made via PayPal on our website www.dfwcollierescue.org. or by donating through "Friends & Family" by putting in dfwcollierescue@gmail.com . 100% of a donation goes for the care and welfare of the collies.
